Claire McCarthy, "On Call" columnist

Dr. McCarthy is a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and co-director of the pediatrics department at the Martha Eliot Health Center, of greater Boston. She also works with the Department of Social Services to find ways to improve the health care of the children they serve, primarily in settings of child abuse and neglect.

Formerly a regular columnist for Sesame Street Magazine and a writer for the Boston Globe Dr. McCarthy is the author of two books, Learning How the Heart Beats and Everyone's Children. She lives near Boston, where she and her husband, a respiratory therapist, are raising four children.
