Baby's 1st Year Videos: Jaundice
This short video explains what jaundice is, how to check for it, and how long it takes to clear up
By Parenting.com
Jaundice, a yellowing of the skin, typically shows up 2 to 3 days after birth. On your own, you can check for jaundice by gently pressing on your baby's skin, then watching to see if there appears to be an underlying yellow tinge to the spot. The whites of your baby's eyes may also become yellowed, and may be the last area to return to normal. The good news? Although it always needs to be evaluated by a pediatrician, most jaundice is usually harmless and clears by itself in a few weeks.
