Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

We've used just a basic Sony baby call monitor.  We got it 6 years ago with our oldest and it's still going strong.  No visual monitor on it, just sound only and you can turn the sound down so there's just a light that shows the strength of the cry.  It's worked for us.

The best suggestion I have heard is to get some regular walkie-talkies with a voice activated mike on baby's end. That way you can talk back if you can't run in the room right away. Also, you will have much better luck with all those channels to pick from. With my first, I couldn't even use my monitor during the day because the neighbors cordless phone was on the same channel.

I have the Snuza Halo Baby Monitor and LOVE it! It clips onto the diaper and directly monitors the movement pf baby's tummy when she breathes. It's portable so it can work literally anywhere baby sleeps, even if she is a tummy sleeper! It's been a lifesaver for me, I highly recommend it.
