i think before because you might go into labor early so its good to have everything you need just in case

I agree my baby is due in March and an employee at Babies "R" Us recomended that I have my baby shower early January in case of early delivery and so I can buy all of the items I need for the baby.

I say before. For once, after christmas people tend to have less money so it might be a burden to purchase/help. Also, you'll have more energy...
