Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

I am just starting to get back into cardio since my daughter was born 20 months ago. I haven't worked out with step aerobics for years! It's beentwo weeks and I'm discovering that I'm putting weight on and that my tummy is getting bigger from the ab workouts! It is very frustrating and I am just wondering if I am doing the wrong kind of workout. I want to burn calories (mostly) and don't want to bulk up and that is what I feel like is going on. Any suggestions!!??

its all to do with how you breath when doing sit ups! breathing the wrong way can cause the muscles to grow outwards! always breath out on the way up in a sit up and breath out on the way down and slow breaths too! breath the other way around will push your muscles outwards not inwards, hope this helps

Step aerobics is the perfect workout to blast off fat because you get your heart rate up with cardio and you amp up your metabolism with the toning portions (that will by no means result in "bulky" muscle). That being said, the scale isn't always the best way to measure progress because muscle weighs more than fat; thus, taking measurements or noting how your clothes fit better can be a more appropriate way to measure your success. As for the abs, along with the proper breathing, you want to ensure that your "scooping" your belly as you contract your ab muscles to do the exercise. This means that as you use your abs to pull your shoulders off the floor, your abs and back should be pressing into the floor to create a "C" shape. It's a phrase often used in Pilates (you could probably find a clearer explanation and demo on YouTube). By training your muscles to pull inward during your workout, they'll always look flatter.

You need to do alot of cardio to burn the fat from around you belly. Do atlease 45 mins 4 to 5 days and you should see a difference.
