Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

Child depression?

My daughter Caitlyn loves her daddy, she has always been and always will be a daddys girl, so when daddy isn't around she is not a happy camper. My husband has recently deployed, and it has been hard on all of us, especially Caitlyn. He has only been gone a week, and she is starting to get really depressed. She doesn't eat, or play, or anything. I'm lucky to get her to eat atleast once a day, she lays in bed all day, not sleeping but just laying there. She cries, but it's not a normal kid cry, she lays in bed and softly cries all day. I try to talk to her or be there for her but she doesn't want me, she wants her daddy, and I can't bring her daddy home. I feel horrible seeing her this upset but there is nothing I can do to fix it, as a mother I just wanna make it better and this is beyond my power. Should I take her to a therapist? I don't even know where to begin.

A therapist wouldn't hurt, but I don't think it's necessary. I think she's just sad and missing her father. She'll get over it.
