Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

How do I get my 22 month old to stop biting his 11 month old aunt?

My son loves his aunt and can be the sweetest little nephew to her, most of the time. But he's gotten into the habit of biting her, a lot of the time it's the same spot to. When we ask him what happened he tries to tell us like he knows he was wrong and sometimes he tells her sorry. But he just keeps doing it. We've tried a few different things to stop it but he just wont. HELP?!

Since this is a recurring event he needs to have a consistent reaction. (I don't like to think of it as a punishment.) The best discipline in this situation is usually a time out.You also need to look at what triggers the biting. Since he seems to be biting in the same place there may be something specific that makes him bite. She might accidentally/unintentionally hit him with a toy or do something else that he doesn't like and he doesn't know how else to get her to stop. He might also be jealous of the attention she's getting at a particular moment. So see if you can identify why he's biting and prevent the situation before it starts or remove him immediately before he bites.
