How do I get my 5 yr old to stop licking everything?
She first saw the behavior by another child in Kdg. this year and has been doing it since then but it is getting more frequent and she won't stop when asked.

Is this a disruptive problem that is affecting her behavior at school, or is it just a weird habit of a little kid? My toddlers lick and touch everything they see. Of course, I wish they wouldn't, it's weird and gross from them to put their spit on things. But, the more I try to stop them the more they do it because they know it bugs me. If it's not causing any real problems I would leave her alone to outgrow the phase. At some point she'll realize that things don't taste good and she'll stop.
Kids are weird and they do weird things sometimes, my nephew smells everything hes also 5 but I think if you just let her do it eventually she will have a bad taste in her mouth and then realize that its not good to lick stuff. I wouldn't stop her unless it can hurt her :)
It's probably for attention. Ignore her when she does that. Plus she can get sick from licking stuff people have touched. Tell her no and if she does it again give her a time out, let her kow you mean bisness. Good luck!
