Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

We are going for a long week vacation to my in-laws', I always prepare my baby's meals and I am not planning on taking the baby food maker with us. Any suggestion or idea on how to cook my baby's meals while on vacation?

Really depends on how old your baby is. I'm sure there is a way to prepare home-cooked meals w/out using a baby food maker. You can use cheese cloth to press food through it, kind of like a strainer. Blender works well.

Ask your mother-in-law if she has a food processor (mini preferably) that you can use.  Cook the food in the microwave or on the stovetop first, and then puree it in the processor.  You can also use a fork to mash it, or even a blender with a little bit of water or the cooking liquid.  I made all of my son's first foods this way - over the stovetop or in the microwave, followed by a stint in the mini food processor that I already owned.  It worked great and didn't take long at all.  Feel free to ask if you need specific cooking times for specific foods (but you can also do a bit of hunting online to find them).  Good luck, and have a great vacation!

freeze what you already made and bring it with. Just make sure you give it enough time to thaw out.
