Unless there is a history of food allergies, 4-6 months is the recommended age. If there is a family history of food allergies, you should talk to your pediatrician before giving solids. Babies don't need juice, so it's not really necessary at any time. If you want, after 6 months you can start giving a little bit of water, or juice. If you give juice, it should be diluted 50/50 with water. 

I started giving my daughter solids at 6 months, The normal age is 4-6 months.
