Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

my daughter as an infant and early toddler had a normal routine as far as bowels go either every day or every other. now that potty traing has started she won't poop on the potty and holds it for 4-5 days or until she can't any more and always tells me she has a cramp. i try to explain that the cramp will go away if she goes. she wears a pull up to bed but nothing. what do i do?

My son is almost 3 and we are working on potty training. He also does not like to poop on the potty. He will hold it, sometimes a few days, until he can really hide and do it. We have tried bribes and encouraging him but he just wont do it on the potty. We also explained to him that his tummy hurt because the poop needed to come out but it doesnt seem to work. I try not to push him because I dont want him to get scared but I dont know what else to do. All I can suggest is to make it seem fun and bring some books into the bathroom. That helped us a little bit. Good luck
