Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

My cousins kid got lice from school and you have to go buy the treatment, I think it's called RID and you wash your hair and then you have to have someone take the little comb that comes with it and go through and comb ALL your hair. It gets rid of the eggs that are attached to each hair. You should repeat this at least twice. Wash all you pillow cases, sheets, hairbrushes and anything that touches your head. Make sure that you treat everyone that has it and don't share brushes or anything until you are sure the lice is completely gone. Getting the little eggs out is the hardest part. Good luck!!

You may also need to treat your bed - pillows, sheets, mattress.  If the lice are living on your bed, it doesn't matter how clean you get your head, a new set will just crawl right on.  I don't know how to clean that stuff, but I'm positive that a Google search on "lice" will pop  up a whole bunch of suggestions, beyond hot water and bleach.

Treat anything that may have gone in your bed too such as stuffed toys. Go over board with washing everything.

wash everything in the house. pillows, blanket, sheets, stuffed animals. everything. there's a lot of products that you can buy over the counter at walmart or any drugstore. RID is wonderful. smelly, but it works. there's a few other worth trying as well. if that doesn't work, talk to the doc. he/she can prescribe something stronger.

No I agree Rid doesn't work but I have been using Zippity Doos on my kids and they have been lice free plus the shield spray is like a magic spray: it keeps the bugs away...just spray their jackets, hoodies, their sweaters, backpacks...I even spray my kids hair...so give it a try!
