Potty Training

Potty Training

My daughter uses her potty and rarely has accidents. She tells me when she needs to go and we've pretty much stopped using pull-ups. However, I'm having trouble getting her to poop in her potty. We also have the toddler toilet seat and that doesn't seem to work either. I give her a skittle each time she pees but no matter what I can't get her to poop in her potty and sometimes she just goes in her underwear :-(. She used to go in a "special corner" when she had to go, but since mommy started rushing her to the toilet when she did, she stopped doing that too. I need some advice, how can I get her to poop in her potty (or toilet)?

My daughter was like this. When she was 2 1/2 we started giving her a small lollipop (organic, from Trader Joe's, but DumDums are good too). After the first lollipop she got, she never had another accident.

Thank you VforVenture, but how did you get your daughter to poop in the potty? I give mine skittles for peeing in the potty, but pooping in the potty is the problem. I'm not sure if a lollipop will help, the skittles don't. Any more advice? I'm not being sarcastic and I'm not trying to be rude, honestly, I'm just desperate to give up diapers (until the next one.)

I have similar problems with my son. I've started giving him a bigger incentive for pooping in the potty. For him it is tractors, contruction vehicles, etc. He gets one a day if he poops in the potty and thankfully that works. My sister-in-law told me she let her daughter pick out a toy herself. They placed it in the bathroom and would fill out a chart with stickers for each time she used the bathroom and at the end of the allotted time she got that toy. That helped get my son into the swing of things to, although it is too hard for my son to have his toys he earns in plain site...so we keep them on a shelf outside his bathroom.

We just explained that she'd get a lollipop if she went on the toilet. That excited her enough that she made the effort to try. Individual candies like Skittles didn't work for her either. Even getting more than one wasn't enough. The new, bigger reward was what got her to do it.
