Sleeping Habbits

Sleeping Habbits

My little girl will be turning 5months on the 17th and she still is not sleeping in her crib. She also wont even take naps during the day unless im holding her. As soon as I lay her down she wakes up and will not go back to sleep for minutes or somtimes hours later. Is she afraid of being seperated from me or just spoiled? I try to put her in her crib and stay consitant but after a few nights of no sleep I cave and put her back in bed with me. When she does sleep with me I do keep her in her boppy because im so afraid of SIDS! Ive even ordered a new book called The Baby Sleeping Book. Does anyone have an advice for me? HELP!

She might not like lying down flat. When you hold her, or she's in her boopy, she's more upright. Try laying flat with her until she gets used to that, then work on the crib.

You may have already tried all of these, but sleep positioners, pacifiers and swaddles? How long do you hold her before putting her down? I would wait maybe 10 or 15 minutes after she's officially asleep. If it's too soon, she might not be asleep enough, and too late, she might be too settled into your arms?

i usally try to wait 15-30min before laying her down but once she wakes up she stirs around every 15min or more until i finally give in and put her in the bed with me. Its like she wont soothe herself back to sleep.

I totally understand. My son never slept in his crib. He hated it. He also did not sleep through the night until he was about 15 months. He slept in the boppy pillow between my husband and me. When it comes to the only sleeping while being held.... we had the same problem. The Dr suggested to let him get sleepy in your arms but before he closed his eyes to sleep lay him down and just sit next to him or touch him so he knows you are there. And in about a week or two he was falling asleep on his own for naps. The trick was to get rid of the crib and he slept on the mattress on the floor. Now at almost 3 he sleeps through the night...most nights.

casey...yes i did some googling and most websites say the same thing so i guess im gonna have to put my strong mommy jeans on and get to work ha. Im sure itll be a rough few weeks but in the long run it will be worth it. thank you for ur input and im glad im not the only one who is struggling with this. Sometimes feeling like the only one is a little sad and it makes it so hard to know what to try to help soothe the baby and get my rest back! *thank u
