What age is the best age to start giving up pacifier?

He no longer has his bottle he only uses a sippy and he didn't use his pacifier alot until recently. If he doesn't have it in, he has his hands in his mouth.

12 months is the best time to give it up. cut off the nipple and give him the leftover plastic piece. this eliminates the temptation of you giving in. the ealier you do it, the easier it will be. don't believe me? just take a look at all these other moms asking ?'s about how to ween a 2-year old off the paci, etc.

i tried it with my baby early but i didnt work but once she started teething she just didnt want it anymore.
