Sometimes it's nice to get advice from experts with a lot of letter degrees behind their names, but other times, you just need to hear what another parent (with a M.O.M. behind her name) has done that has worked. You've got questions? These moms have answers.

Hi I'm 16 weeks pregnant and was wondering if it would be safe for the baby if I go to the salon to get my hair semi-permantly straitend.

The official jury is out on whether or not hair coloring and hair straightening is safe for baby or not.  The general consensus is that it's best to stick to highlights only since they do not touch your scalp (or get absorbed into the body), therefore I would steer clear of straightening your hair during pregnancy.Beyond it being safe or not, what a lot of people don't know is that often your hair changes during pregnancy and it might even get straighter on it's own...or get curlier.  Either way I say save your money and play it safe by choosing to just use a straightening iron on the days you go out.

idk about straighting but with all my oregnancies (im on my 3rd) ive gotten my hair dyed and mykids are fine as long as you do it in a well ventialted area i see no harm but its your body and your baby so do what makes you comfortable
