I painted three rooms in my house while I was pregnant with my first [had a BAD case of nesting], and my 2 1/2 year old is happy, healthy, and sharp as a tack, even though she has a fever today! I had a friend that worked in the paint department at Lowe's, and he said the paint they have is safe... but I don't remember what paints aren't safe... I think he said they are water-based. You could always call your doctor to find out for sure, even though I skipped that step. Just make sure you can open windows or turn on a fan anyway- that smell can get kind of overwhelming.
Me and my husband just bought a house and have painted 3 rooms I asked my doc because I'm only 9 weeks and she said its fine if the windows are open and the fans are goin and it doesnt make you sick if it does get fresh air. She also said stay away from oil based paints and paint thinners. Hope this helped!!
