1. Move down to your child's level. If she's on the floor, kneel. This makes her -- not the scene -- the focus.
2. Use a flash outdoors if you're in the shade, such as under a tree.
3. Take more than one shot of the same scene. You'll be less likely to miss a moment, and the more shots you take, the better the chances you'll end up with a great one.
4. Shoot "off" images. Capturing your child dozing, or even midtantrum, can produce treasured photos.
