43,000 Science Kits Recalled

School Specialty Publishing has recalled 43,000 children's science kits. The "Ideal" and "Brighter Child" brand kits include a battery case that can overheat, posing a thermal burn hazard. Models included are "All About Electricity," "All About Magnets," "The Science Search Lab: Electricity," and "The Science Search Lab: Light." The kits were packaged in brightly colored 11 3/4 x 12 boxes with a plastic window. They were sold at educational stores and bookstores nationwide and on the School Specialty Web site for between $16 and $24.
