* Together, cover the ends of three 4-foot wooden dowels (found in most crafts stores) with electric or duct tape, to soften the tips and give them extra grip.

* Help him bunch the tops of the three sticks together, leaving the bottoms spread out like a tripod; secure the top with duct tape.

* To create the teepee cover: Have your child decorate an old sheet with his handprints, made from finger paints; he can also use washable or permanent markers to decorate an old towel or shower curtain with pictures (sun, trees, stick people, animals). Once he's finished, help him drape the cover over the hut, then secure the fabric at the top with rubber bands, tape, or an upside-down plastic cup.

* Let him take his favorite toys into his new hut and delight in his own personal space!
