Got extra breast milk? If so, it can moonlight as medicine for your baby. "Breast milk is sterile and has antibacterial and antiviral properties that make it a good treatment for minor ailments," says Basil Bruno, M.D., a pediatrician in Hackensack, New Jersey. With your doctor's go-ahead, try it for:

Congestion Squirt two drops of your breast milk into each nostril, then suck out the gunk with an aspirator.
Minor abrasions Dab it on scrapes instead of using an antibacterial cream.
Conjunctivitis For mild cases of pinkeye, two drops in each infected eye twice a day can be an effective antibiotic.
Eczema Use a cotton pad to blot dry spots with breast milk. "It's a great lubricant," notes Dr. Bruno.
