Baby's 1st Year Videos: Diaper Rash

This short video shows why your baby gets diaper rash and how to prevent it

By Parenting.com

When your baby develops a diaper rash, try not to let it guilt-trip you. Some babies are just more prone to diaper rash. Breastfed babies may also get it because they have more frequent stools.

To avoid this rash behavior, change your baby's diaper often and asap after bowel movements. A preventative application of a diaper rash ointment or petroleum jelly is key if your baby seems to be tending toward frequent outbreaks. If the rash persists for more than 3 or 4 days, or you notice bright red little bumps, your baby may have developed a yeast infection. You'll need to see your pediatrician.
