Earlier-Bedtime Benefits

Why kids should go to sleep earlier

By Laura Sullivan, Parenting

There's a definite sweet spot when it comes to bed-times: Kids who go to sleep before 9 P.M. fall asleep quicker, get more overall rest, and -- hooray! -- wake up less often during the night. A new study of more than 29,000 infants and toddlers from around the world found that children in the United States are just squeaking by under the target, according to Jodi Mindell, Ph.D., Who was the lead researcher. If your child is going down late and suffering the consequences during the day, move up bedtime 15 minutes earlier every two or three days until it's where you want it to be.
