This short video shows you tips on how the right position can make breastfeeding easier
By Parenting.com
When you're breastfeeding, the right position or hold can go a long way toward helping you establish a good latch. There is no perfect breastfeeding position. There are several correct breastfeeding positions and they should be used according to the mother's anatomy and the baby's preference. In cradle hold, you definitely want to place a pillow on mom's lap. Then you want to make sure baby and mom are tummy to tummy. The baby's neck should bein the crook of mom's arm. Mom's hand needs to pull baby's body close.
For the the newborn who is not in control of neck muscles yet, we use cross cradle, again the baby is tummy to tummy to mom, mom supports her breast, bring the baby in, and in this position, the neck is supported, you can release the other hand and sit comfortably.
The football hold is a position that's very helpful for a variety of reasons. If mom has large breasts, it is much easier to get baby on with football hold.
