By Parenting.com

For new fathers as well as new mothers, picking up your little one can be scary. Try these tips for picking up your baby. Start by leaning over as close as possible to your baby. Slide one hand under the baby's neck and cup his had in your open fingers. Slide your other hand under his hips and bottom also with fingers spread. Lean towards the baby and slowly bring him to your chest, then carefully straighten your body.
