You want to make sure your kid gets the help he needs but how do you draw the line between online homework help and taking the easy way out? "If kids are avoiding what they're supposed to do, such as reading a book, finishing a math problem, or coming to their own conclusions, then online resources are being used incorrectly," says Merle Marsh, a school administrator in Berlin, MD.

Information, ideas, and guidance are fair game. But copying is cheating, whether the words come from the computer screen or a book on the family room shelf. Parents should make sure children quote and cite online sources for material (which includes words, pictures, sound, and video).

Do you loosen your rules about how many sugary treats your kids can have during the holidays?

Totally. Have at!
A little -- heck, we're indulging, too!
Nope. It's not healthy or worth the sugar meltdown.
