The Ultimate Guide to Poop

Fact or fable? Corn syrup cures constipation

Fact, but most pediatricians caution against it. "There's concern that, like honey, corn syrup has the potential to cause botulism  -- a serious form of food poisoning  -- in infancy," notes Peter Belamarich, M.D., a professor of clinical pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. There are other safe remedies for infant constipation, he says, including giving your child one to four ounces of prune juice a day, or occasionally using a glycerin suppository made for babies (check with your pediatrician first).

Totally. Have at!
A little -- heck, we're indulging, too!
