Let us guess: Your little girl got all Matisse with your favorite lipstick? Even if not, you deserve a fun new shade.

Women of color tend to go for burgundies, dark browns, and reds, says D'angelo Thompson, who has made Salma Hayek and Aretha Franklin even more gorgeous. Why not mix it up?

"There are so many brands, and with dark skin, you can wear the gamut." Thompson suggests corals (Aretha loves orange!), pinks, and browns with gold undertones alongside the usual reds for drama.

Tip: If you want to ensure full coverage, applying a lip primer first will help.
