Attach lower-flow faucet aerators to your sinks to use less water without losing pressure. Most faucets have aerators (which add air as water comes out), but those made before 1992 aren't low-flow enough. To check yours, unscrew the aerator and look at the number on its side (2.2 is good; 1.5 is best), or blast the water for a minute and see if you fill more than two gallon jugs. If so, get a new one -- we like Danco's 1.5 GPM ($2.87; at Lowe's stores).
