Zoe
The doctors broke my water at 6:30 pm and at 7:09 pm, my baby girl was born. She was 8 weeks early and had to spend 17 days in the NICU. She is now 14 years old and aside from reflux that is a side effect of her premature birth, she is a healthy (and talkative!) teenage girl.

Hagen
I was in pain and just had a feeling Hagen was coming soon. I was admitted into the hospital and my medication was upped to stop my labor. The next morning, the doctors administered magnesium sulfate, which is a strong IV medicine used to stall labor. Hagen did not handle this very well. After an ultrasound, the doctors rushed me into an emergency C-section due to Hagen's bad reaction. During the procedure, my doctor discovered that I had a bicornate uterus (a condition where the uterus is split in two), which was the cause of my preterm labor (as well as two miscarriages I had after Zoe and before Hagen).
Arriving 9 weeks early, Hagen weighed 3 pounds 4 ounces, and spent 30 days in the NICU.
Hagen is 3 years old now and like his older sister, suffers from mild reflux. Aside from that, he's a healthy little boy.

Layla
Layla was also born 6 weeks early by scheduled c-section after a positive FFN test (which determines premature birth up to 14 days). She weighed 4 pounds 5 ounces and spent 16 days in the NICU. Layla is now 2½ years old and is thriving after her rough beginning. She was put in a ventilator for 2 days after her birth, suffered from extreme reflux, premature hip joints, was hospitalized again for 2 days after coming home from NICU due to illness and was on an apnea monitor for 30 days. She's now been weaned off her high doses of reflux medicine, has no hip problems whatsoever!
