Baby Your Bottom

By the editors of Babytalk, Babytalk
Try these TLC tips for a tear or an episiotomy:

Squirt the vaginal area with a bottle of warm water when urinating to relieve stinging and keep it clean.

Use a baggie of frozen peas for cool relief  -- it conforms better to your body than an ice pack. Other down-there soothers: witch hazel compresses, or topical anesthetics like Dermoplast or Epifoam.

Take frequent sitz baths by soaking your bottom in shallow warm water.

Sit on your Boppy to take the pressure off stitches.

Keep up those Kegels to increase blood flow to the perineum, which promotes tissue healing.
