10 Avocado Recipes


Even picky palates love avocados, the green superfruits full of “good fats” for healthy brain development.

  1. Mango Tango Combine 1 avocado, 1 cup mango and pineapple chunks, 1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt, and 5 ice cubes in a blender. Puree until smooth.

  2. Choco-cado Mousse Combine 1 avocado, 1 tsp cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp agave nectar (or honey for kids 12 months and up), and 1/4 cup skim milk in a blender. Puree until smooth.

  3. Grill Marks Place 2 halves of a pitted avocado facedown on a heated grill pan and cook 3 minutes. Fill with salsa, shredded cheese, and sour cream.

  4. Banana-cado Mash Use a fork to mash together 1 banana and 1 avocado. If baby's ready for texture, leave some small lumps.

  5. Puddin' Pops Puree 1 avocado, 3/4 cup milk, and 1/4 cup sugar in a blender. Pour into ice-pop molds and freeze until firm.

  6. Green Eggs and Yum Using a fork, mash 1 avocado and 1 hard-boiled egg yolk.

  7. Hummus Among Us In a food processor, puree 1 avocado with 1 (15-oz) can drained chickpeas, 2 Tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper.

  8. Back on the Ranch In a blender, combine 1 cup buttermilk, cup cilantro, 1 avocado, 1 clove garlic, 1 Tbsp lime juice, salt, and pepper. Puree until smooth.

  9. Mac Daddy Salad Mix 1 cup black beans; 1 cup corn kernels; 1 chopped, seeded red bell pepper; and 2 cups cooked elbow macaroni. Toss with avocado-ranch dressing (see above).

  10. Rock the Guac Mash 1 avocado with 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes, 1 tsp lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Serve with carrot sticks.
