Claire's Children's Necklaces Recalled

March 15, 2007
Claire's Boutiques Inc. has recalled about 58,000 children's necklaces. The necklaces' pendants contain lead, which is toxic if ingested.

The silver-colored chain necklaces come with metal pendants in the shapes of monkeys, dolphins, frogs holding colored marbles, fleur de lys in various colors, silver-and-black fairies, silver-colored letters "BFF" with rhinestones, and tiny handcuffs in different colors. "Claire's" or \\"Claire's best friends forever\\" is printed on the back of the packaging. The necklaces were sold at Claire's stores nationwide from December 2005 through December 2006 for $5 to $11.

Consumers should take the necklace away from children immediately, and return it to a Claire's store for refund or product replacement.
