Cookie Recipe: Hot Plate Cookie

These easy stove-top cookies were a finalist in our 2008 Cookie Bake-Off Bonanza

Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
¾ cup butter
¼ cup water
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
3 cups uncooked old-fashioned rolled oats
½ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts

1. Combine brown sugar, butter, water, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat with a spoon until well blended.
2. Add flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Stir until blended. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
3. Make into 1-inch balls. Cook 10-12 minutes on a medium heat griddle. Cool and serve!
