Derek is a certified financial planner with a total of 25 years in the financial services industry, the last six of them as head of his firm, which has offices in Portland and Los Angeles.
Having overcome a serious illness over a decade ago, Derek knows the importance of inspiring his clients to believe their goals are possible. (Randy Pausch is his personal hero.) He encourages them to face sometimes difficult truths--but also urges them to have some fun along the way. He has a special interest in addressing the needs of the ever-increasing number of nontraditional and blended families.
Derek's own blended family includes an adult child and a 4-year-old son. He and his family live in Portland, where Derek cycles as much as he can (including biking to work daily) and continues to strengthen his Bikram yoga practice as an antidote to having turned 50.
