Easy String Games

3 fun stringing and lacing games for preschoolers
By Kris Bordessa

Stringing and lacing are fun for preschoolers -- they have the dexterity, and they're learning about patterns and counting. Some easy games:

DREAM WEAVER Cut a large hole in the center of a sturdy paper plate. Punch holes around the edge, and show your child how to make a dream catcher by lacing yarn or shoelaces in and out of the holes in a random pattern.

SNACK NECKLACE Have her slide Cheerios, pretzels, and dried-apple rings onto waxed dental floss. Tie it around your child's neck to make an edible accessory.

COOL CURLICUES Twist pipe cleaners around a pencil to make springy coils. Thread them like beads onto a long piece of yarn or other pipe cleaners.
