Flu Shot Alert

By Jennifer Abbasi
1. Now that major illnesses have largely disappeared, we really don't need vaccines anymore

We've reported that the flu shot, which is now recommended for all kids ages 6 months to 5 years, will be available starting in October. However, the American Academy of Pediatrics has just issued an alert that FluZone, the only shot for kids under 3, won't be ready until November or December. Talk to your doctor to schedule an appointment  -- and then keep it. Flu season doesn't peak until late December through March, so your kids will still be protected when they need it most.
