Get Your Periods on Track

Having irregular periods? Find out what could be causing them and if you're at risk for infertility.

It’s no secret that a regular menstrual cycle is a sign of fertility and an irregular cycle could signal problems. Stress, depression, and being under- or overweight all can affect a woman’s menstrual cycle. If none of these obvious causes seem to be a factor for you, consult a physician. Skipped or irregular periods could signal an underlying medical problem, like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or some other hormonal imbalance. For otherwise healthy women who simply have irregular cycles, doctors recommend trying ovulation predictor kits to zero in on the most fertile time of the cycle.
