Graco Recalls Soft Blocks Towers on Activity Centers Due to Choking Hazard

May 2, 2007
Graco has recalled about 40,000 Soft Blocks Tower Toys on Baby Einstein® discover and play? Activity Centers. The plastic on the soft block towers can detach and pose a choking hazard to babies. There have been 137 reports of babies chewing off the plastic film covering, including 32 infants who gagged and 49 who choked.

The soft block towers are one of nine toys in the Activity Center, and consist of three differently shaped stuffed fabric blocks in red, yellow and blue. A plastic film covers pictures of apples, fire engines, ducks, bananas, birds, and blueberries on the blocks. Only model number 4635BEE with serial numbers 012705 through 063005 has been recalled (model and serial numbers can be found under the Activity Center tray). The toy was sold at Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Babies "R" Us, Toys "R" Us, Meijer, Shopko, Target, and various specialty retailers nationwide, and on Wal-Mart.com and Target.com from February 2005 through about December 2005 for [DOLLAR]80.

Consumers should immediately remove the Soft Blocks Tower from the Activity Center. For a free replacement toy without the plastic film, call (800) 345-4109 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.gracobaby.com.
