When October rolls around, it's easy to think about doing something to help fight breast cancer. After all, the call to action is hard to ignore! What can be trickier is figuring out where to put your time (or money). Grab your laptop, then check out these five different ways to get in on the action:
If you want to support research... Consider the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (Bcrfcure.org). At least 85 cents of each dollar donated goes directly to top breast cancer scientists worldwide.
If you want to lend a hand to young women... Join the supporters of the Young Survival Coalition (Youngsurvival.org) to help patients 40 and under. You choose how and when to volunteer -- from hosting a cocktail event to going on a virtual fund-raising walk from your couch.
If you want to help a patient pay the bills... Support the Pink Fund (Thepinkfund.org), which raises money for patients in treatment. The group is made up solely of volunteers, so your donation goes straight to those who need it.
If you like to shop... Pick up a necklace or even an oven at Breastcancer.org and you'll be supporting this nonprofit site that helps breast cancer patients find the newest medical research and a community that offers 24/7 support.
If you want to volunteer... Visit Network for Good (Networkforgood.org). The site has nearly 60,000 opportunities to choose from -- you're bound to find your match!
