Plexiglass Paint Project

You'll want to make room for this modern, easy-for-kids painting project

  1. Pour two or three light-color acrylic paints on a paper plate and supply a paintbrush for each color.
  2. Place a sheet of 1 by 1-foot Plexiglass (available at discount sites like delviesplastics.com) on enough newspaper to protect the table. Have your child paint the entire side of the Plexiglass by lightly swirling the colors. (At this point, don't worry about painting anything in particular—that part comes later.)Let dry for about 30 minutes, depending on how thickly the paint was applied. 
  3. Turn over the Plexiglass and tell your child to use her imagination to draw a picture, like a bird, robot, or sun, with a black paint pen. Let dry for 10 minutes (or more, depending on the manufacturer's instructions). 
  4. Hang with Velcro picture-hanging strips (found at office-supply stores).
