Materials
½ yard of ¼-inch foam
¾ yard white felt
Glue gun
Glue sticks
¼ yard red felt
½ yard white tulle
1-foot spool white string
Pencil
White long-sleeved bodysuit (no front buttons or snaps)
White knit hat
Pinking shears
White tights or leggings
2. Cut seven pointed 12" long triangular swirls from the red felt. Place the swirls on the front of the circle so that all the points meet at the center of the circle. One at a time, glue the swirls to the front of the circle. Turn the circle over and glue the excess felt ends to the back of the circle.
3. Gather the piece of tulle at one end. Using the string, tie a tight knot 8" from the end of the tulle. Place the candy circle in the "pocket" of tulle so that the swirl side is completely covered with the tulle, then smooth the tulle that is over the front of the candy. Cut the tulle 8" from the top of the candy and tie another knot with the string at the edge of the candy. Take this excess tulle (including the top knot) and secure it to the back of the costume with glue. (Note: Hot glue will seep through tulle. Use the back of a pencil to hold the tulle in place while gluing so you don't burn your fingers.) Glue the candy to the front of the bodysuit, lining up the top edge of the candy with the neck opening of the bodysuit.
4. Gather remaining tulle and tie a knot with the string 8" from one end. Trim the other end of the tulle 1½" from the knot. With your finger, push down a small indentation in the top of the hat. Put the small end of the knot in the indentation, and glue the hat all the way around this short end so that none of the knot shows. Trim the ends of the "candy wrapper" with the pinking shears.
