Strike a Pose: Yoga and Fertility
Yoga is good for the body, mind, and soul, say supporters. Now they may have new reason to promote the practice: it can improve fertility. If you're trying to get pregnant, check out our Fertility Calculator to find the best times for sex.
A 2000 study from researchers at Harvard University tracked 184 women who were trying to conceive. The results showed that 55 percent of the women who completed a mind/body program like yoga got pregnant within a year, compared with only 20 percent in a control group. Many yoga facilities now even offer classes on “fertility yoga,” combining traditional yoga postures with moves claimed to benefit both men’s and women’s reproductive health.
