Try, Try Again After Miscarriage

Couples who have suffered a miscarriage want to know how soon they can start trying again. Trying to get pregnant? Find the best times for sex with our Fertility Calculator.

Many doctors recommend they wait until after a few normal ovulatory cycles or a couple of seemingly regular periods. That’s because after a miscarriage, abnormal levels of hormones (such as progesterone) make it difficult for the endometrium—the lining of the uterus—to support a pregnancy. It can take two or three months for hormone levels to return to normal and for the body to start ovulating normally. Women undergoing fertility treatments can usually resume treatment after just one normal menstrual cycle. The medication may overcome any ovulation problems
