Many doctors recommend they wait until after a few normal ovulatory cycles or a couple of seemingly regular periods. That’s because after a miscarriage, abnormal levels of hormones (such as progesterone) make it difficult for the endometrium—the lining of the uterus—to support a pregnancy. It can take two or three months for hormone levels to return to normal and for the body to start ovulating normally.
