I could write 10 pages on things I hate about clowns. Their creepy, exaggerated smiles. Their booming laughter. Their repeated crimes against fashion: polka dots with rainbow stripes, floppy, red shoes, and blue eye shadow. They elicit fear and anxiety in small children and some adults—feelings of terror that no balloon animal can calm.
But today, I can say that there may be one good thing about clowns: they may help you get pregnant.

Here’s a recall you definitely don’t want to miss:
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada announced today that phil&teds USA is voluntarily recalling about 30,000 jogging strollers.
The single-seat strollers have a hinge mechanism for folding and unfolding where fingers can get caught and cause serious injury. The company has received three reports of injuries, including one incident of an adult getting a finger tip cut off (!!!).

How would you like to cuddle up to a soft, cushy plushie of…the herpes virus? How about diarrhea? Or maybe E. coli is more your style.

“Does Mommy’s widdle baby want some yum-yum?”
I have never been of fan of baby talk. I don’t think I’m alone when I say that hearing parents speaking in high-pitched voices and adding “y” sounds to the end of every word (blankie, diapy, owie) makes me cringe.
Here’s another reason to give baby talk a rest: a new, eye-opening study from the University of California, San Diego found that babies process words much like adults do.

Mark Twain’s classic The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has had a long history of stirring controversy since it was first released in 1885. For years, many educators banned the book from school reading lists for its repeated use of racial slurs, including 219 instances of the N-word.
A new, sanitized version of Huckleberry Finn, edited by Auburn Montgomery Twain scholar Alan Gribben, replaces the racial slur with “slave.”Read Full Post

If you’re like me, you were dreaming of a white Christmas. Well, I got my wish one day late…in the form of a massive blizzard that dumped more than 20 inches on my New Jersey neighborhood.
Adults may begrudge nightmarish commutes and backbreaking snow shoveling, but for kids, those great white peaks are the ultimate winter wonderland. Unfortunately, more than 20,000 are treated for sledding-related injuries each year.

To help make sure your kid stays safe while sledding, Lara McKenzie, Ph.D., principal investigator at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital, in Columbus shares some important safety tips:

Paper ripping, bows flying…is there anything more exciting to a kid than unwrapping presents on Christmas day?
Babble rounded up the best holiday gift-opening reactions on the web, a hilarious collection of joyous tears, eardrum-bursting screams, and fist-pumping celebration dances.
My personal favorite: the classic “Nintendo Sixty-Fooooooour!! OH MY GODD!!” kid. (I wonder if, 12 years later, he is just as excited about the Nintendo Wii.)

A nasty stomach bug is making the rounds. Several outbreaks across the country this month have prompted schools in some states to temporarily close. Early this month, a Michigan school canceled classes to have a cleaning crew disinfect the entire building after a whooping 120 students and 8 teachers called in sick.
What can you do if your kiddo catches the stomach bug?
