Q&A: Sofia Vergara's Style Guide

Celebrity mom and Modern Family star Sofia Vergara stopped by to chat with us about her KMart line and to give us some style tips on how to look smokin'.   

Q: Is there such a thing as an easy, comfy, and sexy look?
A: Sure! Get a pair of black leggings, and wear them with a wrap shirt that gathers to one side, which makes any waist look smaller. Add a pair of hoop earrings.

Q: We can do that! So was that the inspiration for your Sofia by Sofia Vergara line at Kmart?
A: Regardless of how much money you have to spend, or your body type, you should have clothes that make you feel good about yourself. That's important because your kids are watching, and they can tell when you're not feeling your best. My pieces are so affordable, if you find a way to save a little at the supermarket, you can have a new dress.

Q: How can crazy-busy moms break out of their closet rut?
A: It doesn't have to take a lot of time to revamp your look. Buy a few items of clothing you love but that are easy to throw on. One piece every woman should have is jeggings. They're so comfortable; they're like sweatpants disguised as jeans. Yet they look fantastic—really make your legs look slim. Wear them with a T-shirt and flats or, for date night, with a blousy top and heels.

Q: What's your go-to dress-up piece?
A: My personal favorite is the color-block dress. It's fun, on trend, and, of course, sexy. But it's so versatile that you'll look for it over and over.

Q: What's the first word that pops into your head when you hear the word “mother”?
A: “Hard.” I don't think people without children understand how much work it actually is.

Q: Amen to that. Speaking of hard work, designing your first clothing line must have been challenging. The toughest part?
A: Making sure it had the quality of clothing that normally costs a lot more.

Q: What can we expect to see in the future?
A: More aff ordable goodies like swimsuits, sleepwear, scarves…even housewares. All things I love!
