Jewel, mom to son Kase, four-time Grammy nominee, singer-songwriter, spokesperson for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, and avocado fan dishes gives us her parenting POV.

Describe your parenting style in one word: Loving.

The phrase you've said more than any other at home is… He's perfect! He's really perfect!

What's always in your refrigerator? Avocados. Love those healthy fats.

Last meal you made for your family: Grilled steaks, corn, and salad.

Craziest thing you've done because you were sleep-deprived: Found myself in an absent-minded haze burping my five-pound Shih Tzu puppy while I watched TV.

Behavioral/physical trait you hope your child doesn't inherit from you: I hope he doesn't worry like I do, and I hope he is tidy like his dad.

Guilty pleasure: Twitter. Follow me @jeweljk.

Song you most often sing to Kase: I've sung him “Sweet Dreams” from my Lullaby album about a thousand times. I tear up every time.

Job that would best prepare you for being a parent: Musician. All the sleepless nights building my career have trained me for having a newborn.

Tell us about your involvement with VH1's Save the Music Foundation. Music has turned from a source of comfort into a tool to help me understand myself through writing. It's my therapy. I love giving that gift to other children.

If you wrote a parenting manual, the title would be… I've only been a parent for a few months, so I'm not ready to name any parenting books yet!
