When I heard the news about Beyonce’s pregnancy, the first thing I wondered was what kind of gorgeous clothes Sasha Fierce would swathe her bump in. The second thing I wondered was how fatherhood would jibe with Jay-Z’s hardcore persona. Would he throw in references to Baby Bjorns and Pampers in his rhymes? Would his choice of stroller cause the same ripple effect as his choice of champagne?

Turns out that daughter Blue Ivy, born just 2 days ago, has already turned him into a softie. In a new track, “Glory feat. B.I.C.,” which has just been released on his web site, Jay reveals that the birth of Blue followed a heartbreaking miscarriage, that she was conceived in Paris, and that he considers her to be his greatest creation. He also samples her newborn cries.
