Works on: iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
For: Toddlers and preschoolers (and their nostalgic parents)
There are only a few books from my childhood I remember as vividly as I do with one of my all-time favorites, Pat the Bunny. Written by Dorothy Kunhardt more than 70 years ago, Pat the Bunny is one of those classics that always elicits smiles and “awwws” of nostalgia.
Those who remember the familiar pink book with the blue binding will be delighted to play with and share the Pat the Bunny app with the next generation of bunny enthusiasts. The fun mobile app features the exact same whimsy and interaction as the book, but in digital form. Of course, since it's based on the book, there is an option for kids to be read to or to read aloud themselves (and even record their own voices).
In addition to the simple and entertaining storyline, kids can also progress through each page, explore different interactive scenes and engage in tasks like catching butterflies, popping bubbles, making ducks swim and more. And on devices with front-facing cameras, kids will enjoy the page where they see themselves in a "mirror," just like the original book.
There is also a paint option where each scene is presented as a coloring book page that kids simply fill in by rubbing their fingers over the screen – perfect for younger kids.
Parents who grew up with this book will revisit their pat-the-bunny memories and enjoy sharing the experience with their kids. And just in time for Easter, an update has been added to let kids enjoy a little egg hunt on every page!
