Screen Play App of the Week: ILoveFireworks
June 30, 2011
Works on: iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad
Cost: $0.99 (there is also a free lite version)
For: Anyone who loves fireworks
To kick off July 4th weekend, I thought it fitting for this week’s app pick to be, well, fireworks of course! For those whose kids may be too young to stay up for the local fireworks show, or whose kids may find the live show too loud and scary, this app is a perfect stand-in for the holiday weekend.
There is a lite version and a paid version, the only difference being that the lite version is ad supported. Both provide great graphics, realistic sounds and a nice variety of different firework patterns and colors. Simply tap, swipe and make any kind of pattern with your finger on screen to create your own fireworks show. The best part is that both versions link to your iTunes library, so your fireworks can be accompanied by whatever music suits your fancy – Stars and Stripes Forever for true authenticity, if you have it.
I personally didn’t see any difference between the two versions and didn’t experience the pop-up ads for the duration of two songs in the lite version, but if you want to give your kids free rein over their fireworks and avoid having them accidentally tap on a random pop-up ad, it may be wise to shell out the $0.99.
Enjoy the show and have a safe 4th!
